A Canadian doom metal band has announced their breakup in the most brutal way.
Toronto-based WITCHROT shared the news on Facebook on November 25 just over a month after the release of their self-titled EP.
The seemingly short-lived stoner, sludge band, who are self-described as ‘hex, drugs and rock and roll’ appear to be on ‘extended hiatus’ after irreconcilable drama plagued its members.
Member Peter Turik wrote the gloomy announcement which alleges: “Due to the unfortunate reality of our guitarist f***ing my girlfriend of almost 7 years, WITCHROT will be taking an extended hiatus.
Peter then wrote he was “ripe with hate” and hoped to continue the band in another space and time.
“The music is slowly flowing ad without a doubt will become the most devastating, torturous music I have ever created,” he wrote before signing off with thanks and “stay heavy.”
However that wasn’t all, he included a final line at the bottom declaring: “also, our drummer died.”
There’s no further details about said drummer, including the cause of death.
The post included a photo of a smashed up guitar in a rubbish pile, just in case you didn’t already feel the rage.
The post and WITCHROT’s music has since received a lot of attention. While they won’t be jamming together anytime soon they’ve certainly gained some new fans from the announcement.
Take a listen below. It’s almost as brutal as the breakup.
